In 8th grade, the last year of Coming of Age, all the 8th graders do a service project.
Sophia Barnes' project is to raise money for the
Los Toros Foundation. Los Toros is a poor village in the Dominican Republic, and The Los Toros Foundation provides funding for schools, better farming, and further education for the residents. Originally Sophia planned on raising money for shoes, but after contacting the foundation, she discovered that a table and chairs were needed
for the preschool being built. Every other Sunday, Sophia will be selling fair trade coffee during the Ethical Society's Coffee Hour to collect funds for her goal of buying at least one table and five chairs.
Project Updates Saturday March 8, 2008 Today the page was created. Please keep checking for updates!
